Understanding the problem

Transforming an entire business process into a seamless digital product

PIPA specialises in helping organisations build a stronger and more efficient workforce by offering leadership training & development services.

The task was to build an intuitive platform that helped PIPA and their current customers track and manage these leadership training programs.

My Role

Taking a user centered design approach to understand the problem and build a user friendly solution

Understanding the users
I spoke to PIPA's existing customers to understand their pain-points and frustrations.

Define & Ideate
I defined the ideal user segments and envisioned the appropriate customer journey for each user type.

Design, Prototype & Test
I designed low fidelity wireframes and high fidelity mockups then tested with users before handing the final designs to engineering team.

Research method

Putting the user front and centre of the entire process through consistent interactions and personas

It was very important to keep constant interaction with the users to ensure that we built a solution that catered to their needs & goals. We wanted users to be able to manage their training, conduct surveys and schedule coaching sessions all within the app. To make sure the entire team understood this, We created some user personas.

Ideation

Mapping out goals for each user segment to define customer journey

After successfully identifying the 5 main user segments, I began to map out what each user segment want to achieve. This helped me understand similarities between the goals of each user segment and also what features were needed to help these users achieve their goals.

Design & Prototype

After 3 weeks of intense design iterations, We developed a solution that made life easier for PIPA and it's Customers

Feedback & Learnings

An important lesson gained while working on this project was the relevance of “The Pareto Principle” which states that 80% of the success of a product is determined by 20% of the effort put into it.

By testing early,  we realised that we would have expanded too much resources designing the whole product but after testing with actual users we found out users really just needed 20% of all the functionalities we would have designed.
